Diesel and Auto box is a dodgy combination from the start. You have to be very careful what you choose as that combination will bring up so many dogs with unreliable auto boxes designed for petrol power bolted together with a diseasel motor to fill a gap in the brochure.

I'd have thought a modern diesel would be pretty unsuited to that driving regime - just a short commute and lots of short trips round town is a recipe for DPF issues. I would be going for a small auto petrol car (i.e. Astra/Zafira?), or a larger petrol car LPG converted to fit those requirements.

EDIT: and I'd sooner walk than drive a shitroen. ;D

This is looking favorite at the moment............

No, its French. Obviously.
No, its front wheel drive which gives no room for an auto box without splitting the drive line
No, its auto in conjunction with front wheel drive
No, its Diesel in conjunction with a front wheel drive auto gives all low down torque. The enemy of an auto, in a front wheel drive with a split drive line to fit the box between the front wheels with the engine in the way.
No, did I mention, its French, front wheel drive auto and diesel. You can not get a worse combination for drive train reliability.

Only saving grace is it can't pull the skin off a bowl of custard rice pudding.

If it must be diesel and auto, get rwd.
If it must be front wheel drive and auto, get a petrol.
Never all three.
Diesels are expensive to repair as the miles build up. That's had the best out of it by now and the owner might be selling for reasons given above.

What else... Oh yes, did I mention, its French, its fwd auto and diesel.

That's a relatively expensive verion of the Altea/cheaper version of the VW Tiguan :y

I should add, although I had dealer issues with the Altea, the old dears loved it as they could get in and out without struggling as the seats are a little higher. The boot on the XL is a good size too...

There's also that Daewoo Orlando ::)

The Tiguan...?

Like the BMW mx3. The only reason for buying one is, can't afford the mx5/Tuareg. :(

Not Lexus. They won't do an auto diesel for similar reasons.... in the new I.S. range at least. Last I looked.
