I know a water leak can start from a mile away from where it exits which is a pain in the ass.. It exists from just past the oil filter housing.

Further, a pressure test would be a good place to start. Actually finding the leak source before doing anything would be good. If its 99 m.y. look closely at core plugs behind pot 6 between the cylinder head and coil PAC.

No don't trust them. Pressurise the cooling system. It forces the coolant out with engine off so you can trace the leak.

That's what the car went in for... Compression test albeit i didn't see this done as it was left with him.

Compression test is a different test to pressurising the Cooling system :-\

What where the figures resulting from the test?

As said, compression test measures the cylinder compression in the combustion chamber.

Pressurising the coolant system is to do with the coolant jacket surrounding the cylinders. Not within the cylinders.

Core plug more likely.

Head off to repair if so.

Stick a bottle of bars in it. IMO.

Ah ok, just about visible from underneath, guess the leaj is from the outer rear corner of cylinder 6... Which, iirc is where the '98 vintage engines tend to fail :-\
