Help identifying bulb type
« on: 01 May 2014, 11:26:44 »

So in GrandmaT's back garden she has a PIR light, the bulb blew, so MotherT took it to a light shop in town. Few days later check up, reply is, 'What bulb?'

Said they never had it  >:(

Quite unusual, hence taking it there. For the sparkies on the forum, anyone know the type of bulb for this PIR light? I can't see a model/name on it. Might need to take it off to see that.

Thanks in advance  :y

Looks like it might take a PAR38 spotlight bulb to me, but might be worth measuring up to see first. :y

Thanks Kevin, quick Google, I don't think it's that looking at it.

It was quite small I think, did not look like a standard bulb.  :-\

That said, could have been that, but most on the ebay search results are screw, I don't remember it being a screw fitting. More like bayonet

Is there a glass lens on the front or does the bulb form a seal against the rubber surround?

Yes glass on the lens, that rotates and comes off. The lens makes the seal  :y

as Kev says tunnie  :y
Looks like a standard ES thread  :)

Might be worth paying the extra few quid to buy a replacement LED bulb though and save on the electric bill a little  :)

This should do the job    http://www.ledhut.co.uk/led-bulbs/r63-reflector.html  :)

Ok, then it might be a smaller bulb. I had assumed that the bulb forms the front face of the lamp.

I can see it's an edison screw fitting from here. ;)

If there's a glass face that screws on, as long is it has the right size ES fitting and it fits behind the glass, then job's a good'un. Depending on how the drive electronics is designed, it's possible it'd take exception to an LED or FL low energy bulb.

I recall it being this style:

But without a connection each side.
