Flat battery-deadlocks on
« on: 10 May 2014, 14:53:02 »

Hi,went to use the car this am and couldn't unlock it.Had used it the previous day but only a 10 min journey and it gave no hint the battery was struggling.Anyway have read back through some posts which say the drivers door should open with the key but may be a bit stiff due to using the remote fob. However since i got it a few months ago i have been using the key to unlock and lock the door as it's an early '95 model with the seperate bulky fob.
I have tried wd and put as much pressure when turning the lock as i dare but it doesn't budge although the lock button does move up a fraction.
Will it deffo unlock via the key or should i look at alternative entry methods.
Thanks John.

Yes, the key should open a dead locked car. As you suggest, it does require a fair bit of force, but it will open it though. The button doesn't lift up.  ;)

If your car is a saloon, there's the option of the boot. It's possible to drop a seat back by careful prodding of the latch from inside the boot & then either crawl through yourself, or borrow a friend's/neighbour's/relative's child to crawl through to pop the bonnet to allow you to connect jump leads.  ;)

There have been discussions about getting under the car & getting a battery charger connected to the terminal on the starter motor. Don't know if anyone managed it though  :-\

You don't need to "charge" the system that way .. just connect up then use the key to unlock, open bonnet and charge the normal way ... all you are trying to do is get 12v onto the system .. :)

Power sounder should stop as you unlock using the remote .. :)

That wasn't the case with mine ............ it only stopped when the key was turned in the ignition.
