What colour is the grey around the stereo on a 2001. It just I'm replacing the stereo in mine and going to get a single din facia plate but unsure of which grey to go for charcoal or dark grey

That looks black to me :-\

They're available in four shades... silver, grey, charcoal and black... best bet is to find a decent car audio place and get them to order it of the part number of the colour you want :y need to consider whether you need a double din fittings kit, or the simple single din one shown :y

Good point may have been black, I don't remember any colour options when I ordered mine around 8/9 years ago now  :o

Helfrods only sell black... other colours have different two digits on the code, these being the colours :y

Eg PF-19-00 is black, others are PF-19-01/02/03...

Readily available via ebay and decent car audio places... one for Dave DND perhaps :y

All I will say, is don't use Road Radio, bunch of useless twits >:( ordered a charcoal double din fitting kit for mine, looked up in the catalogue, item code written in the diary, with description, paid in full. Went to collect, and tried to sell me the single din one in black for twice what Helfrods were asking. Wtf, I said I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known, as I had a perfectly useless one in the garage ::)

Took me an hour of yelling to get my money back... onanists :-X

This is mine in charcoal i think:

That's the same stereo and simalar bezel as in mine. Great sound.  :y

Did you have a problem after fitting when opening the ashtray?

My ashtray was catching on the bottom of the surround bezel every time, so I took out the bezel and filed the bottom on a slant up towards the windscreen. Can't be seen and it has fixed the problem.  :y Third party stuff never fits properly.  ::)

Tunnie, Where did you get your phone holder?

I've got a black double din surround in mine and it looks okay. Matches the radio rather than the surround, but works as a separate element matching the climate control screen at the top with grey buttons to the side.  I found the grey surround was more metallic silver than grey and meant I'd have 3 different colours going on.

Cheers for the replies. Ordered the top one to see what that's like. Will post up a pic when I've fitted it.

I've got my kenwood bt42u to fit in with the auto leads for the steering wheel as well. It's a great stereo and Bluetooth for phone as well, which I have missed :y

Just fitted it this evening :y

The top on although states dark grey came out more silverish but still looks ok and ashtray fouls on bottom so will file a bit off.
The speakers don't know what's hit them it's nice to actually hear the music now but speaker upgrade next me thinks :y
