Ebay
« on: 21 May 2014, 15:35:33 »

Banks, trading websites, online stores etc etc are always making assuring noises about how "safe" and "secure" they are. And yet here we have one of the biggest web based businesses around  . . . .

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-27503290

And a few years ago the Governemnt wanted a nationwide NHS IT system, which of course would be completely "Secure"

My view, is that if it's there, someone somewhere can and will compromise it. Even the Pentagon got hacked by some nobody in North London . . .

There's no such thing as a secure computer system.

But there's also no such thing as secure physical document storage.

And both are more likely to be accessed through social engineering than direct attack.. easier to con someone into giving out their password than it is to hack in, and easier to con someone into going and getting the document in question than it is to break into a vault.

Changed mine earlier  ;)

As for hacking, if it travels through the air or down a wire, it can be intercepted.
If it can be intercepted, all codes can be broken with sufficient time and processing power.

All my passwords are rotated on a monthly basis and only I know what they are  ;)
