Motorway driving
« on: 31 May 2014, 17:36:29 »

Been over to Liverpool today to see mum. M62 was quietish and the weather was fine. I usually drive at around 80-85, up towards 90 for overtaking, takes about an hour and a half.
Today I decided to rein it back a bit and try to enjoy the journey. So I stuck at around 70-75, occasionally up to 80. The car seemed to love it. Seemed to use a lot less fuel and was much quieter. The journey took about 10 minutes longer and I came home feeling much more relaxed.
Think I'll stick to it.

I travelled down the M5 near Bodmin at a leisurely pace yesterday, at times the traffic flow reached an incredible .............. 25mph.  :)

Very wise. Older people such as yourself have poor reactions in case of emergency. I suggest dropping the speed to 50 MPH. That way you won't be a danger to other motorists..... :)

Normally a big sign as you get to A30 turn off South that will say something like 'Bodmin 60 miles 65 minutes'

Let me guess you just pump in destination and follow like a sheep until it says you have arrived :)

Either way the old boy is likely to be a liability to other road users. Too fast and he'll cause a pile up. Too slow and everyone will get frustrated. ;D
