3.2 radiator replacement
« on: 01 June 2014, 17:48:07 »

So I thought I'd pop out and do that 30 minute job and replace the radiator..

After drilling one of the torx bolts off to get the plastic out of the way, I realised that the separate autobox cooler on the 3.2 has pipes that wrap over the top of the radiator.

Anyone know if I unbolt this whether there are just simple O-ring seals inside or a gasket I'll have to replace?

The new rad is from a 3.0 so has the integral cooler and doesn't have the boss for bolting these cooler lines to - not sure yet if it's even possible to bolt the cooler to it or if I need to source another rad :-\

That's definitely going to require some jiggery pokery to bolt to a radiator without the mounting points for it.. unless they're shared with the a/c condenser, of course.

When I had to replace the 3.2 rad I had major problems getting the right one, especially those idiots at Europarts, even carcooling tried to send me the wrong one .. eventually I had to get one from VX  ...... bloody expensive but at least it was spot on correct .. So they are out there .. it's just a matter of getting hold of one....

The oil cooler o-rings don't seem to get damaged at all .. I didn't replace them and have had no problems.

Re oil cooler connection, just unbolt, then do back up when finished. No need to replace oil seal, didn't bother on mine. Just a slight leak of oil once its apart.

For the sake of two 'o' rings i'd replace them, seen one that wouldn't seal again after being disturbed.
