So I think what we're saying is, mobile signal coverage will never be good enough to give blanket coverage, for traffic management for example.
Correct.

For what you are suggesting, you need to find a better tool rather than Google Maps, which isn't really designed, and certainly not optimised, for what you are asking.

For 4G coverage, EE seem to have the best, O2 and Voda are bottom of the pack, with those retards at Three somewhere in between.

But check the coverage maps. In my experience, O2 and EE seem quite accurate, Voda not so accurate, and Three's a work of fiction.

Er, well, it's the best "at a glance" option I'm aware of, when checking a general area. Picking a route and sticking rigidly to it in area I know so don't need directions makes Tomtom second choice usually, unless I'm off my patch of course, as you can't physically see see the traffic on the map. Unless I'm missing something :-\

Thing is, live traffic data comes from people like you.. and, if their devices aren't getting a data connection either, there's no traffic data to receive. ;)

If I am where they are then it's too late anyway.

Sounds as though you need to get a proper system to meet your needs - that is a dynamic traffic mode with proper reception - only possible built into car.

Anything else I am sure will not fit the bill
