Posting of parts question
« on: 02 June 2014, 11:53:50 »

I'm trying to post a steering wheel to a forum member and its just come back to me  >:(
Apparently steering wheels are now on the prohibited list for all couriers  >:(
Had a word with the company explaining that the airbag has been removed and the object is nothing more than a round piece of rubber and alloy.

They still are playing hardball  >:(
Any idea's ?

The courier is   was Parcells to go

Just don't tell them the exact contents, it's not going to be x-rayed like an international parcel, so they will be none the wiser  :y

You reckon...

Take it to Ups, they'll want to see inside the box before they accept it... But this guarantees that they will accept it, and more importantly, deliver it :y

Take it to the, post office, never yet been asked what's in a parcel.

the reason they asked was,it contains explosive's and since certain things happened to do with explosives every ones gone effing safety, mobil phones with batteries are the same, but only s/h ones. :-\

It won't be x-rayed at UPS :y If you schedule collection rather than drop off, the contents won't even be checked

When I use Ups, its for Christmas presents and the like, ie not necessarily valuable, but important... Have had both collections from the house and taken things to the depot. The driver insists on checking the contents. Suspect this is due to international requirements which demand this, so easier to train for/apply one rule. Electronic items need to be demonstrated to prove that they are what they pertain to be... Eg sent a card reader back to the leasing company, that had to be unpacked and switched on to prove it was a card reader rather than an ied...

When I worked for TNT, we had to personally check all international freight prior to sealing. Everything on the conveyor at the depot was x-rayed as it was labelled :y

I sent a steering wheel to someone using UPS via interparcel.

marked as "car parts- no oil or liquids".

delivered OK, no idea if it was checked (dropped off at local corner shop)
