Gout is often caused by excess alcohol.

Just saying. ::) ::) :)

My uncle has gout, he described it just as you have. I know he is in agony when it plays up.

There is a member here with first hand experience of this. To be serious for a minute.

But I'd guess it would affect more than one toe. Seeing as I'm a Dr and all. ;)

Caused by uric acid in the blood, extremely painful in the extremities. A way to elevate the pain is to stop drinking alcohol, and put ice packs on the affected area along with the use of painkillers. Mainly caused by being overweight and failing kidneys, so a life style change will help this painful arthritic condition. :y

P.S I'm not a doctor. ;D

I get gout from time to time and it isn't necessarily caused by alcohol - Google it; you will be advised to drink lots of water to help flush the uric acid crystals (THEY are the cause of the pain) from your toe joints -the big toes, mainly but not exclusively.

I get a bit of gout  now & again  really painful when it occurs . . .  too much high living I reckon  . . .  but doc prescribes me

Indometacin .   i  only have to take one days supply ( 3 tabs) &  it goes away completely  in less than 48 hours & stays away

for the next few months.  when it kicks off again  . .  . another 3 tabs & all is sorted   :y   HTH :y

Get a prescription from Doc Gixer  or Doc  Opti;D ;D ;D ;D

I didn't say that alcohol causes it only that reducing consumption can relieve it. :y

I have just reread my statement and it should have read..The pain is at the end of my toe under the nail..

I dont drink so i dont think its that..As Dr Gixer said it could be my safety shoes but if so why only on my right foot.
