Regarding underwear, with the demise of C&A, whose labels told you which way round to wear them (c**k and a**e for men, c**t and a**e for women), we have to rely on more traditional methods - yellow at the front, brown at the back.
And how to know when they are due for changing?
Throw them at the wall, and if they slide down, you only need to reverse them, but if they stick to the wall, PLEASE change them!

Actually C&A are alive and very well in Europe  (France, Belgium, Holland, & others) when I'm over there I make a point of shopping as they have decent no-nonsense, good quality, clothes at good prices. They only pulled out of the UK some years ago, not other countries.

That's good to hear, Rog, as I liked their shops. I wonder why they failed here, because they always seemed busy and their goods on a par with M&S?
Knowing about C&A does rather date me, though.....
