I did the same thing 40 years ago after smoking 40 ciggys a day for many years......God was that hard work but it is the only way to do it.....If you succeed  then i admire your determination...... ..if you do not then i admire your will by trying.,,,.And you can always try again... best of luck to you. :y

Well done all. :y
I gave up 10 years ago, after 40 years of a 20 per day habit. Used patches but still not easy, best thing I ever did, feel so much better I rue the day I ever started. :y

Well done. :y I was a 20 a day man until 1st Feb this year. Since then I've been on the e-cig, with the intention of weaning myself off them eventually. Started off on 16mg of nicotine oil, down to 6mg now.
I've had one draw of a real cig a couple of weeks ago, just for curiosity, was bloody horrible so at least I know I won't be going back to them.

I never used to smoke indoors. About 3 years ago I was outside havin' one and just decided to stop. No patches, no electronic things, nothing. I kept an unopened pack in my pocket all the time, so any time I wanted, I could.

Have I given up ? Yes. Am I a non-smoker ? probably no, I just haven't had one for a long time.

I'm waiting for the WHO or government to announce that they were wrong, that smoking is actually GOOD for you. Or maybe that the World will end soon. I'll be ready  :y

It's my first 'fag free' day today... :-\ :-\ Well done all who have succeeded, if I manage it I might be able to afford to run a miggy??

I gave up in 1980. I had smoked from age eleven.

My last packet of fags, 20 Gold Leaf, cost the princely sum of 51p.

My eldest bro always used to give up cold turkey. Trouble is, he was more a social smoker, so every 2 or 3 years would start up again after a lads night on the phish.

Now smoking is classed as unsociable, he's not bothered again...   ...wonder what will happen when a G&T or beer with friends becomes classed as unsocialable...
