Come on folks .. lets not take it, and ourselves, too seriously.. for all we know jelly may have set out to cause friction deliberately ... some folks get off on that sort of thing...  I would hate to fall out with anyone over such a matter.. so I'm going to back right off and say no more .. in the interest if peace and tranquility ...

That was my suspicion from the beginning.   There is someone who appears from time to time from 'the dark side' isn't there?

If she is for real, she can't belong to many other forums - this is the most good natured, helpful place I know.

Going back to the "lessons" idea, I think we need to get back on track here and see if indeed we can learn something.

My take as above, is as follows

If she found it offensive then that is her choice. It's not wrong to be offended - it's down to individual discretion.

But I still maintain she could have achieved a much better outcome by dealing with it far more effectively and discreetly in PM, rather than come along as a newbie and bash a long standing member on the public boards.

While as a commnity we may well need to learn something - I think Jelly does to - mainly in the form of resillience and tact.

I think it would be best if there were no further discussion on this, Jelly is probably watching as a guest having a good giggle at all the comments she has stirred up, she must have know what she was getting into having observed.
There are some members of this forum would never be on if they took offence but seem to insist on coming back for more.

i think the forum is great for fun and serious things

You know when you look at the site the banter that goes on, and shouldn't really take it to heart, it is all just good fun, if you don't like the general chat area you don't have to visit it, you can stick the the general omega chat and just use the site for advise from some very knowledgeable people, personally not being a lot of help in that area, I stick to general chat, for a laugh

OK, I have obviously missed all this - apologies, it was hectic at work.

Sadly, it would appear (and I haven't seen the offending posts), we have alienated a new member, which is unacceptable  .  A member has joined, looking for help with her (?) car, and ended up being universally attacked from what I can see here  

Yes, it is a male dominated forum, and yes, boys will be boys, but had it of been a face to face discussion and you had seen the obvious upset caused, I'm sure each and every one of us would have been a little more understanding.


Obviously I am not saying don't have a laugh and a giggle, but just be aware that new members may not quite know what regular OOFers are like, so just be aware.


To Jelly, if you are still reading this, we welcome you if you want to sign up again.  I'm sure we can advise on your car problems.  Just be aware that in the General Chat section, a certain amount of banter takes place.  Generally no offence is intended, though often provoking a response is.
