Help with a Childs fancy dress costume please.
« on: 18 June 2008, 19:58:33 »

I decided that 3000 people are better than one.

My daughter, 7 yrs old, is playing the role of ‘Bull’s-eye’ in her school’s forthcoming production of ‘Oliver’ ::) ::) ::)

Problem is she needs a costume, of a Bulldog, any idea where I might get one or does anyone know of anyone who could make one?  At a reasonable price. Ebay is full of fancy dress costumes but dogs are only Scooby doo or Dalmatians and she has the latter.

There are some expensive versions in the states but not what we are looking for.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks.  :)

How about getting an old white sheet and fitting it out as a dog custume, then getting your daughter's face painted (like they did in the musical "Cats") as a dog with a black circle around one eye. :y

Worth a try? :-/ :-/

Sorry you didn't like my idea Mike :(, but I was thinking it would be a lot cheaper than hiring a custume and more importantly would be a "fun" project for your daughter to be involved in.  You know how 7 year old girls love making custumes and painting their face.  Just an idea.

Not that I didn't like the idea, just that neither myself or swmbo are that way inclined and my daughter would rather help wash the car or tinker in the Garage!!  She does love to draw though. ;D ;D

We have stopped her getting her face painted after she came out in a terrible rash after being pained as a cat. :y

It was originally tongue in cheek but perhaps the company have a public relations person who just happens to have a child size Churchill suit that could be hired/used for PR purposes?  Worth an e-mail, perhaps...

My sewing is restricted to what us Olde Navy types call homeward bounders - just enough to hold it together to get us to a home port!!

My father was in the Royal Navy for 26 years and he told me about being a "button boy".  He never did it because he hates heights, but knew one young sailor who used to love doing it! :y

I knew one or two who would get onto the button, lots more who would get to the crows nest, not me though :-[
