I was thinking of this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Karrite-Odyssey-360-Roofbox-360-Litres-Grey-Lid-Box-/230808101779?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Touring_Travel&hash=item35bd3c2393

Day trips are fine, but it's when we go away for a week, need a little more space.

This is the much cheaper option, I have been looking at Volvo V70's  ::)

Think that was the one I had.

Next cheapest option would be to fix the loom problem on the estate.

And if MrsTB and I can manage for a weeks trip in France (Northern, so unpredictable weather), with an LPG tank, and all the luggage from our Morgan owning friends, I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous post.

I highly suspect yourself and MrsT did not have a pram and cot thingy, which took up 50% of the boot  ;)

Additionally I doubt you were attending a family Wedding  ::)

Time not on my side to fix the Estate, post end of July things free up. However I think it's time to call an end to the Estate  :(

I don't think I've ever been on hols with MrsT, but then my memory isn't what it used to be ;)

I said about my most recent trip, simply because I had LPG, thus lost 1/3rd of the boot straight away, and still managed 4 people's luggage, bulky items like fans and so on, all in the boot. Obviously, I've done 2 week trips, again carrying our friends' luggage, but that was pre LPG, or in an Insignia in 2012. And the Insignia has a shite boot.

Just give her the case that will fit, and let her decide what to take. If it doesn't fit in, it doesn't go, simples.

Can't correct typo's here  :(  ;D

Like I say we've been fine so far but never gone over night yet, need a little more storage. Box should be enough. Cause instead of LPG tank, I have a pram  :D

Besides could be used on the 2.2 as well, as fancy doing some cycle camping trips with mates next year  :y

To add, roofbox isn't the complete solution IME, due to weight limit capacity of the Omega roof, and the overhang on the box. Light stuff only. I know people who have had water ingress in wet weather, so clothes/bedding - the obvious candidates - aren't always suitable.

I found the one you linked to to work for my needs, and plan to get another once I've found some suitable bars, but they aren't the complete answer. Taking less shite is the answer.

Or buy a shitbox Zafira or similar.

To add you also had Bose shelf removed, which would help.

Don't like Zafira much. Prefer something like V70.

Nope, but I could not fix a Zafira either.

Would not mind a 2.2 estate  ::)

Hmmm, if your looking at a car the size of a V70 you may as well get the Estate sorted in my opinion.

I'd agree with that, was given a V70 for a while when I was doing some contract work for BT, Omega Estate a lot better in terms of practical usable space, could only get about 24 mpg out of the V70 not mater how hard I tried.

Back on to the roof boxes, I tried all sorts, I found the longer thinner ones are more rigged than the fat wide typed and less strain on mpg, used to carry all sorts of shite in mine, anything from cable drums, uni struct, metal brackets etc, probably well over weight and it never proved a problem. The thin long Thule one that I had was ideal in the end as I had a requirement to carry 2 sets of ladders on the MV6 Estate and that would fit neatly in the middle of them.  :y

Thanks, yeah I was looking at the long thin ones as it gives more options on the bars for other things  :y

Also means 2.2 could be used more  :)
