Sports questions
« on: 23 July 2014, 21:47:48 »

The subject of sport came up in conversation at work today.Okay mainly football, which I have absolutely no interest in and even less knowledge of.However I was asked a couple of questions on sports that I do watch[although I'm no expert in either]the first was
Speedway bikes-who makes them?Unlike other bike racing there seems to be no manufacturer competition,so what make are they and does the company make anything else. After all there can't be enough demand for speedway bikes to keep a company afloat can there?
The second was a totally different and unrelated sport, namely ski flying[or jumping if you prefer]At what point is the flight deemed to have ended and thus distance covered determined? The tail of the skis touch down ever so slightly before the foot area does, with the front end of the skis last.So is it when any part of the ski touches the ground or when the skiers feet are down or the whole of the ski?

Jawa used to make most of the speedway bikes in the 70's, don't know about now  :-\

As for the ski question, its the first touchdown point of the jump so yes it would be the back of the ski  :y
