Maximum weight in a self-levelling Omega saloon
« on: 26 July 2014, 11:17:29 »

Hey all,

Just wondering what the maximum weight anyone has had in a self-levelling suspension Omega saloon (mine is pre facelift it is matters)

The as much as possible will be loaded into the front passenger compartment but realistically most will be in the rear passenger section, footwells, seats and then of course the boot.

I think the most I have carried so far (excluding me) is about 500kgs across the whole car

Thanks

No idea, but to give a clue, how much do 4 / 5 people and a boot full of luggage weigh?

And dont forget to pump the tyres!  ;)

And I had a crate of Indian sandstone, I deliberately didn't ask what it weighed, but I drove 30 miles home VERY gingerly! ::)

That's a worryingly low figure as it is only 5 largeish  people. The sort of load that you buy an Omega for.

From the top of my head, 2350kg gross weight, less the kerb weight is 550kgs  :-\ think kerb weight includes fuel and three passengers, but that varies from manufacturer to manufacturer  :-\

We put so many paving slabs in a Citroen BX that it wouldn't lift. Instead of unloading some and making two trips, we left the engine running and removed enough to make the car rise. Then, we put them back in and drove off.

I remember once in the Viano....doing a pickup.....6 rugby built guys got in the back....one small skinny guy got in the front....went a few yards down the road....and overweight light started flashing on the dash....i ignored it....but guy in the front noticed it and asked what it meant....i replied it means the bus is overweight....he called out out to his mates in back saying.....oi....drivers bus is saying your all fat bastards  ;D ;D
