Did an online application for an insurance quote, yesterday, for My 16 year old step son for his new scooter.

Cheapest; ‘Rampdale.com Insurance Brokers’ quoted £285.91 for fully comprehensive, by far the cheapest and they confirmed this in an e-mail, price, cover and all the usual details.
Rang them up today to buy it, just about to give card no and lady mentioned TPF&T. I challenged this, saying that no the quote was for fully comp, at this price.... she said no, I said yes. She said that fully comp cover would be £460.00.

During these proceedings I have an eager 16 year old with his helmet and keys in hand itching to get out on his scooter.

Transferred me to some guy who said must have been an administration error, I said computer quote!! he said that given the value of the bike TPF&T should be enough, WTF. I suggested that he had to do it as I had a quote, he said no way. My best reasoned arguments hit a brick wall, clearly not going to get anywhere so I told him I was not going to pay his fully comp price and that I will go elsewhere. :exclamation
Had my lad been doing this himself he would not of noticed, in all the excitement, and it would have been to late, in all practicality, once the paperwork was through. I think this was a bit of a con.

Went elsewhere but had to pay £372.00 fully comp.
