Manchester Airport Terminal 3
« on: 08 August 2014, 22:38:16 »

As my post, in the wrong section...... :-[ has now been hijacked by a member with a very long memory............ :D :D I will try again.......... :y

Miss Vamps is flying to the Isle of Man on Sunday morning, she is going to spend a week with a friend and her family............  :( :y :D :D :D

We need to be at terminal 3, will I be able to park the car for a couple of hours ok, and not too far away from the terminal, is there any short term disable parking near the terminal?

I need to see her as far as I can to the plane, any advice appreciated....... :y

Might I direct you to my reply in said thread...

Check out the Airport Website Vamps, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't disabled parking in a convenient spot in the short stay car park...

If Miss Vamps is flying as an unaccompanied minor, then the airline should see her escorted from check in to the aircraft :y

Gatwick is £3 for 30 mins, £6 for an hour and £10 for 2 hours... not sure beyond that, as I have never been there that long :D

Going 2 minutes over the hour really grates, as when you know it's close, there's always some tit trying to pay with 5p coins >:(

Luton is £4 for 30mins......there is a £2 15min stay, but you cannot leave your car unattended. I guess alright for picking up mates
but not really for picking up customers. I was lucky this time, as my customers didnt want picking up until 1hr after they had landed, so were waiting for me .

Newcastle Airport is good for picking people up, I hide around the corner, just out of the airport, one or two layby's / places to park, peeps get off plane, do their stuff and when all done, ring me up, drive in pick them up and drive out, free if under 10 mins iirc. Lots of Taxi's seem to do the same thing

Gatwick and Heathrow frown on people picking up from outside... personally I would rather stomach the parking cost, putting it against expenses, to go in use the facilities and meet the customers in an easy to identify place :y

Usually the fare is plus parking anyways, so as long as you aren't in the terminal until after the flight lands then the charges aren't unreasonable imho... meeting people out side, especially at Gatwick can be a reak shit if it's busy, and quite frankly I can't be doing with the faffing around, made worse if you have never met them before :-\

I collected my aunt from London City about 18 months ago, and that was £9 for 20 minutes. I felt like I'd been mugged. And her flight had been delayed until 16:30, so we drove out of the carpark and joined the queue for the Blackwall Tunnel. An hour and twenty minutes to get home - I hate driving in London.

Next time I have to get her, I'll park nearby, and collect her when she rings me.
