I looked at some grills last night for the omega.
The original looks a bit odd, and on mine the black is so faded, every time I wash it,
I have to use back to black to make it look nice again.

Them grills you can buy, I don't know, I don't really like them.
My omega is silver, so a black one would make it look cheap, boy racer style.
Sorry, don't want to step on somebody's feeds.

Did anybody replace there black insert with Chrome mesh ?
I mean leaving the original grill, but replacing the black insert with silver or chrome mesh insert?

In the past I did it with my v6 rover which looked amazingly good, the same with the volvox, on the v70 in black but the car is complete black.

Just thinking, silver or chrome mesh instead the black plastik insert may makes the car look more update from the front and gives the posh style touch.

Also while iam on it, maybe replacing the black plastik inserts from the bottom too?
Or would this be too much?

Option A :
...I've never tried it on an omega... (never had to).. but faded Volvo plastic comes back to life a treat if you carefully re-liquefy the surface with a hot air gun.  (see youtube for how to). 

Option B :

Gtechniq C4 (is very very expensive) but does work well. (As do all Gtechniq products... apart from the tyre gel)

Option C :

Make it non-standard and de-value the car a bit.

I would also reccomend trying some smooth peanut butter, I did the Saab last week and was amazed all the grey plastic went black again. Something to do with the peanut oil

Works but doesn't last unfortunately

Old engine oil is good for blacking up faded plastics and is cheaper than peanut oil, but as said it dosn't last.  I think the commercial products like 'Back to Black' are silicone based?

Forgot to mention, for best results the Baked Beans do need to Free Range.

I was thinking of meshing an original grill on mine so it matched the mesh on the MV6 Bumper but decided against it as I kind of figured that the louvres on the original are designed to channel the air into the radiator whereas mesh would be more restrictive.

In the end I bought a Irmscher clone with the chrome surround as I don't really like the completely black ones.

I can't see mesh would restrict the airflow.
In fact it would increase the airflow as it is less restricted on air intake?

In need to look for the picture of the rover to show what I mean.
Not going the boy racer way and want to make a racer out of it.
Even looking for a descent tip end for the exhaust, not the big double thingy ones.
Just a nice chrome one.

Last night I tryd tyre paint.
Restoring all the faded plastics.
Works perfect.
All back to deep black.
Looks not too bad actually.

The stuff I used is from professional car cleaning garage, not the cheap poundland spray.
Loads better then the cheap crap back to black.
Downturn, it's expensive.

I use a product called BlackWow. About ten quid for a bottle, but that bottle is enough to do every car in the street twice over. Goes on brilliantly, looks good and lasts.
