I would guess at about £10k given that historically the value tends to double every ten years

That's less than I was thinking... was aiming at a sixth of an S Class, which cost just shy of £8000 for a 6.9 when it was launched

Depends what you bought or wanted to buy with it. In 1970 my parents house was something like £2300 to buy and is now worth £150k ? But it would have probably just about bought some cars

An obliging uncle left me one seventh of his house in 1976.......£1427. I was sixteen at the time and not allowed to have the money until my 18th birthday.

Needless to say that I pissed my inheritance up the wall and was back to square one by the time I was nineteen. ....Ah well, we live and learn.

My sister who was twenty at the time used her share as a significant  deposit (25%) on her first house....which cost £5700.
