Not very cool air
« on: 06 September 2014, 18:34:57 »

Does anyone else find that the Elite is poor at keeping cabin temperature low on a moderately warm day without the use of AC ?

Mine can't sustain 20 inside when it's 16.5 and overcast outside (even when moving) without ramping up the fan speed.

I have noticed previously that cars that have AC (but switched off) seem to be much worse at remaining cool than cars without AC, but the Omega is especially poor at the moment.  :(

Yeah it's definitely a hot car to be inside without A/C even if it's not that warm outside...

The Omega needs A/C on, I've tried with the windows/sunroof open it helps but then you have all that wind noise especially 60+mph. Not forgetting the smell of some places while passing or insects coming in the car etc..

Anyway with the windows open this method probably uses more fuel than the A/C and still doesn't cool you properly.. But for many the A/C don't work on the Omega so your buggered unless you are prepared to possibly spend shed loads on fixing it.

Hmm. Bugger. Must be the 90's inefficient paraffin heater engine.  :-\

My AC doesn't have a major leak i'm told... , but it doesn't have any gas in either  ::).  Really must get round to that.  Add it to the never ending list.  ::)

Yep, that 3.2 engine pushes out a lot of heat.

I find it is either "Low", "16", "17" or "18" settings keep my interior very pleasant, but the boost of "Low" does make all the difference.

Thinking back though to the cars I had without A/C in warm weather those cars were also very warm without windows wound down.  So is the Omega any worse? I actually think it is not. ;)
