V6 LPG Conversion
« on: 20 June 2008, 18:46:55 »

I'm planning to start mine in the next 6 weeks or so. Couple of questions.

1. Kevin, are you still willing to drill/tap/fit nozzles for me?
2. Has anyone got a spare V6 inlet manifold they would like to exchange with mine so I can keep the car running while Kevin does the above? Or do we have a donor manifold to do the rounds with yet?
3. How long should I wait before leaving another message on Jeremy's voicemail? Or how long did it take for him to get back to other people who were trying to contact him?

Also, I was thinking (dangerous I know!)

For those people who want a large LPG tank but still want the ability to load through... You could always fit a tank lengthways down one side of the boot. I did this in my Rangey and it was fine. The only comment I would make is that you may have problems with the tank pick up under very hard acceleration/braking. Just a thought!!

Be persistent with Jeremy, he is a genuine guy but i honestly believe he is just swamped with orders, almost a victim of his own sucess

I'm not sure about the tank running lengthways, i would check the LPG code of practice, however i would say it will upset the handling a bit when the tank is full

Not wanting to hijack or anything... but.... how would I go about an LPG for a 3.0 elite? Are the kits ok?

I checked this when I fitted it into my Rangey. It states that the tank must be securely mounted, not the direction of the mounting. I even asked the guys at Tinley Tech when I popped over for a frame and some bits and they said it was fine!

As for the handling... Yes it would make a small difference but most people don't drive their cars to the limit anyway!!

That's what I'm sticking it on!! They are proven to be successful on the Miggy so I'm willing to fit it. Having had problem with the Rangey when I got it due to poor kit compatibility/fitting I want to be sure this one's done right. That's why I'm fitting it myself (with a little help from Kevin  ;))

Jay, do I remember you saying you had a spare inlet manifold?

I can drill and tap the manifold no problem. If you can get a spare one to me and, if possible, a set of nozzles I'll sort it out. :y

I would get your order in well in advance because, as said, Jeremy is flat out and I'm waiting on bits with an almost complete conversion now.

Kevin

I've called and left a message today, and also tried another couple of times but just rung and rung until getting voicemail!

I don't actually need the kit until about this time next month but thought it wise to get the order in early!! Do you know if he ships the kits from Fareham or drop ships from elsewhere? Only I'm off on holiday to the Isle of Wight at the start of next month and was thinking I could swing past his place on the way back and collect the kit. Actually, if I can get a manifold in time I suppose I could drop all the relevant bits to you too Kevin!

I'll keep persisting with Jeremy and hopefully get through to him over the next couple of days! I take it the mobile number listed in his adverts is the best number to try?

Oh, I forgot to ask... How's your conversion going? Apart from the obvious lack of vaporiser!!  :question :question :question

I'm not sure where the orders ship from. My tank came separately with a different courier so I imagine that was dispatched direct from a supplier.

My install is going OK. Got most of the front end in last weekend and have been in Denmark on business most of the week. Will have another onslaught this weekend. Just got a traditional towbar to replace my removable one which will avoid problems with the reinforcing plate on the boot floor and give me somewhere to mount the filler.

I've still not made my mind up about the filler point...  Was tempted to put it on the tow bar but still not sure...

My filler is going on the panel

Regardless of the COP I wouldn't be mounting the tank along one side of the boot - it would kill anyone in the back seat, in an impact..

Only downsides I can see is that you have to bend down a bit to fill it, and it's a pain if you have to fill up frequently when hitched-up. I only tow occasionally and for relatively short distances so I figure it will look less out of place than a filler on bodywork / bumper.
