I,ve been involved on this forum for quite a while now and really enjoy all  the great wealth of knowledge and help that is forthcoming about the Omega's. As well as all of the brilliant banter and comments on "General chat"

 
But I feel a bit unsure about getting involved  in the "meets" that are coming up as I am not sure that my own Omega is in good enough condition to attend these meetings.


In my present financial position , I am unable to throw a shed load of money at my car in order to get it into "Pristine" condition.


While it is maintained very well mechanics wise, it does suffer from the dreaded rust along the door tops and bottoms. (Although this is now attempting to be sorted)


I am raising this point as when I attended the  recent WIM open day, my Omega did seem to be the only one that was not in tip top condition.


I was just wondering if this matters and the real enjoyment of "meets" for me would be the getting together, socialising and being part of  it and the forum.


My "Miggy" is never gonna win any sort of show or award, but it's a great car and with it I feel I can be part of this thing.

Just wondered if others on here have similar thoughts.

What!!!!    This is a site for Omega Owners, doesn't matter what spec or what condition Omega you drive, it's as much about the people as the cars.

Well -- have never been to an OOF meet (yet), but used to frequent VW meets when the proud owner of a type 2 camper. The condition of the vehicles ranged from superb to downright dangerous -- but the point was to get together with like minded bods, have a laugh, learn about the vehicles and, yes, admire others efforts --- but the whole point was to enjoy ---- don't let a bit of tinworm put you off

I've been a part of car clubs for many years now.  You can always tell the "real" ones as the condition of your paintwork is not going to exclude you from participating - No.1 is that you're an enthusiast.

Mine's a vertiable shed in all honesty - probably got a lot more rotten bits than yours and a dinked tailgate to boot plus foggy headlamps.  Wouldn't stop me going to a meet...

I'ev never been a spit'n'polish owner - i want to drive the car, not just look at it myself.  Nice to look at the good ones, though!

This is the Omega OWNERS Forum, I believe - not the the Omega Immaculate Bodywork Forum.  If it was, then i think there would be a polish section sponsored by Autoglym...don't laugh - i've seen it!

Blimey, you have a 3.0l and I have to go to the lakes in a 2.0l without fog lamps, all oofer pics seem to have fog lamps in them Unless I go in the Citroen

these meets are not about the condition of the cars, don't think these of those chavved up car shows with cars spolished to mirror like glass.

Its a social gathering, general beer drinking, talking 'dangle berries'....very little work is done or cars, or showing them off.

Mine was washed 2 weeks ago, and its not getting washed again until at least week after next, so mine will not be clean!

Cars can be sheds! hell i am brining my 2.2!!!

I think the word i'm after is "Ditto"...

I've never had such a relaxing drive to work...thats why I like my Mig!

Are there are "I (heart) my Mig" stickers in the shop yet???  Cheesy, but i think i'll stay with them when the time comes to "upgrade"..

I call her a "40 yard car"; that being the distance from which she looks to be in superbly good condition!
Enjoy attending any meet; they`ll surely be great fun and very interesting.....and maybe we`ll 'meet' at the same one!

whilst we al share a common interest i believe that the people who go to the meets are those who have the chance to be social with those they talk to on the net, the cars come a close second.

I would still be here if i didn't have a mig, i would still go to the meets that i could attend as well, and i would still enjoy myself as much.

The car may be the reason you joined up, but ask yourself, why do you stay and want to go to the meets, cos you like the people
