Bloody Hayfever

Its driving me mad, ive only recently started to suffer from it so I will have to take a trip to the chemist :(

Whatever they suggest, Loratadine seems to be the best active ingredient for SWMBO, don't let them fob you off with a branded one. The own brands all have exactly the same chemicals and are less than half the price!  :y :y :y :y

Forget the chemist, there a bloody rip off!

I get all my hayfever remedies here now:

You just need to know that say Cetirizine is the active ingredient used in Zirtek etc.

I am currently in a VERY bad way with my hayfever and I am taking

Cetirizine (2 per day under the instructions of the doctor)
Fluticasone propionate nasal spray (Flixonase)
Steroid Inhaler
30mg of prednisolone (steroid, short term on prescription which thankfuly I finish today as I am storing fluid badly!)
Ventolin.

Thats what I have had in the past, tis good stuff, dont seem to have had any issues with hayfever the last couple of years.

But yesLoratadine = Excellent   :y :y :y

You need to find which works best for you, Loratadine (Clarityn) for example has no effect on my symptoms at all.

So it will need some trial and error.

Also be aware that for some treatements i.e. the nasal sprays, it takes a few weeks for them to be fully effective.

Luckily, I dont seem to get it too bad just hazy itchy eyes, runny nose, itchy roof of my mouth/nose and sneezing. I have tried Clarityn which my daughter uses and it works OK so will go and get some of that :y

I would hate to get it as bad as you Mark, I bet you rattle with all them tabs :(

If Loratadine works for you... Tesco's do their own and it's a third of the price, well it was last year when we stocked up for SWMBO!!!

I do at the minute, the steroids are 6 tablets at a time!

I never had hayfever at all until I moved to the city some 16 years ago and I used to live in the middle of the countryside surrounded by hay, wheat and rape fields and they suspect its diesel fumes are the key trigger.

Hopefuly things may improve with the pending need to move house as we wont be going to a large city this time.

I have to say that the website I posted has saved me a small fortune as unlike the Weshies, I still have to pay for my prescriptions!

The other fast access places for the cheaper treatments are the supermarkets and the likes of Wilkinsons as they have 7 tablets for about a quid....

I've been there in the past. You have my sympathies. I tend to get problems around September time. My mum the green fingered one reckons fungus spores. Not been that bad for a few years though. Things improved considerably when I discovered I'm allergic to anything aspirin based.

You're right that tractor fumes are ruddy awful.

i have it bad at the moment.i have been trying to stay indoors just to give my eyes some relief.i started taking clarityn a few days ago and it seems to be kicking in now,so i am going to venture out to do some car work shortly.

If so, they may help the nasal irritation but, wont help the eyes and throat  :y
