Old maps - Where you live, in 1886
« on: 15 October 2014, 08:52:38 »

Found this website of National Library of Scotland with zoomable maps of most of England and Wales. Use the + and - function to zoom to the area you want. Highlight the relevant section and maps from various dates are listed on the right of the screen. Fascinating.

We moved to Wales earlier this year. Found an 1886 map with our house on it !

Very interesting :)

My house was built in 1883, found where it is on the 1871 map - and it was park of a kiln yard/brickworks... explains the massive amount of old bricks I found when digging my garage foundations.

Nope. Not that clever, and not a Daily Mail reader.

Actually, now you mention it, not seen him here for a while. Pity  :(

That's great find and it's great looking back then following where "new houses" at turn of 20 th century were built.
