When it comes to springs-other than knowing the different types i.e.coil,leaf etc.-I know diddley squat.So when the Omega failed its M.o.T. on a broken rear spring I phoned a few places for prices the best of which turned out to be £28.22p each so I bought a pair.These turned out to be K-Flex springs by a company called KYB.I don't know whether these are considered to be good/poor or indifferent springs but they fit seem to do the job and more importantly got the car through the M.o.T.

Kyb are ok. Reports of rust causing early failure though. Self levelling ones fitted or standard?

They are prone to rusting quickly, and thus seem to snap sooner than better quality ones such as Boge and Sach

They're supposedly the self levellers as they're for an Elite and supplier asked not only for reg.number but also chassis number so they could be sure to supply correct ones as they said they had two types listed.All looks pretty much the same as before and car feels the same as it used to.

Do sound like self levellers then. Any springs will work with sl shocks though, to taste, so to speak.

Sl are more prone to breakages though. Sadly. Along with kyb rust issues, they "may" not last as long as expected. Although for that money, some might not be too bothered.

A good coat of waxoyl should address the corrosion issues

Fitted a set of KYB's to mine about 5 years/60000 miles ago and they're still going strong!
