cylinder head replacement
« on: 20 October 2014, 09:47:13 »

hi guys

just to ask if anyone knows where I can get a cylinder head from for a 2.2 2002 engine number z22xe and anyone that can fit it

my fault entirely I had 2 broken studs and I tried to  drill out and tap but it has gone all wrong I was more worried about drilling through the head into the water jacket I got one stud in but it just turns when I try and tighten the nut around so it is not sealing.

at the moment I have sealed with holts exhaust gum.
I have had enough I just want it sorted.

is it easy to change a cylinder head as I know you need to change the head gasket and bolts.

please help

You could probably just helicoil the thread if that's the only issue with this head?

Good question,

After a quick Google both use the same head gasket set and timing belt kit.
I reckon they are the same heads just a different block.

Someone with more knowledge will be along soon  :y

From my memory x20xev, z22xe are all the same base engine, both have 86mm bore and the z22xe is just stroked version of older x20xev. IIRC you can fit c18xe head and cams for some extra power. x18xe1 and c18xel heads should fit too since they fit on top of x20xev. Not tried myself, just been reading stuff others have experimented ::)

If you're not up to helicoiling the thread yourself, any competent garage or better still a local engineering workshop could do it for you for not a lot of wonga! :y
