I reckon our cat is either extremely clever or, extremely thick?? 'er indoors' has X Factor on the T.V. Everybody and his dog is letting off fireworks out the front. The cat is sitting behind the blinds watching the fireworks..... 'Lesser of 2 evils huh'.  ;)

Annoyingly, due to the Freetard nature of modern society, the local Scout group have stopped doing the big display in town, as they weren't making any money on it, because of all the Freetards standing outside the venue to watch, rather than pay the measly tenner  :'(. Its a bloody charity FFS.

So the best we managed to get to this year is the little gathering that our road has.

The most successful displays locally are massive charity affairs, and are free to attend... they make their money from donations and a percentage from the takings of the fairs and food stalls etc which attend :y

Those displays that charge never do well imho... :-\

That's how the fireworks/bonfire is done here!  :y  If everyone had chucked a couple of quid in the collection buckets last night they'd have raised shit loads as there was a big crowd out last night!   Any surplus is donated to local charities.  :y

Brakkers isn't a big town, as you know, so burning up £10k of gunpowder needs more than the odd couple of quid that must Freetards won't pay, or 10p off a cuppa.

If they charge a tenner, they need 1000 paying punters (plus whatever they have to pay the school). Last year, I'd say there was less than that, yet the adjacent footie and tennis clubs were packed that night.

Somebody somewhere has to cover costs. That's what the Freetards always fail to understand.  And then complain when the service is withdrawn (speaking more generally).

Was thinking these two as cases in point...

Firstly Cranleigh, the largest village in the UK...

http://www.surreylife.co.uk/home/best_firework_displays_in_surrey_2014_1_2958009

Secondly Chiddingfold...

http://chiddingfoldbonfire.org.uk/

Two examples of how it should be done :y

As for the Tennis and football clubs, they should donate a fair lump of their profits to the Scouts if they deliberately benefit from the Scouts display :-X

One of the local big displays around here, was charging a tenner per car last year (dunno this year)...and they had police on the gate.....only taxi's allowed to stop at entrance and offload....everyone else in the car park and pay a tenner or drive on by. (I imagine if you arrived by taxi.....groups of upto 4 got charged a tenner  :-\)

Last year I did mention to an officer of the law, as I unloaded....that there were several cars parked on the verge about 1/4mile back, causing an obstruction....he thanked me for the info....saying he would get them moved...ffs...some of them had adults and kids in the cars...£10 for a carload  ::)

;D But to be fair it was on a narrow country lane.....wide enough for 2 cars to pass, but not if cars parked on verge.....so if the parked cars are delaying my journey...as I had to sit and give way to oncoming traffic...then coz they are too tight to pay a tenner, then I will grass em up...coz they are probably the ones that blow their horn at me, for stopping on a main road to drop a customer off and they have to wait to get past.... ;)
