I've never understood how the assessors work.

My brother had a side impact on his 3door 306 a few of years ago.

The car was worth £4k at most.  The impact pushed the rear quarter into the boot.  So, new tailgate, new rear lights, complete new rear quarter (so most of the side of the car).

Because it hadn't touched the sill or caused and deformation to the roof, the Insurance company paid for it to be repaired.

And that's how the labour involved in stripping the screen and roof rails from my £1000 estate to repair three stonechips made mine a Cat C... Still haven't fathomed how it can possibly take four days to strip and refit the headlining ::)
