If it helps, don't assume it was a gold-plated, mint, finest-in-the-country one... It's gone, and that's that, but there's every chance that there's some guy somewhere today looking at that Omega he just bought last night, and realised that the front wing is a very slightly different shade thanks to a bad respray, there's oil in the plugwells and some nasty rust under the arch, which will mean welding, not just grinding and filler, and a hairline crack in the screen ...
none of which would show up at very well at night. A shame though it is, there's others out there. Of course it might have been mint and you found a wad of £50 notes under the driver's seat when you got home, but the golden rules are there, I say you were right to stick to them
