I'm a good hubby
« on: 04 November 2014, 13:51:02 »

This morning swmbo went out and left me alone to do as I please. So rather than just waste it in front of telly, I decided to do the hoovering :o :o
Which to be fair I hardly ever do. So started to hoover and about 10 mins in I get a slight burning smell from the Hoover and a small whisp of smoke. So what to do? I carried on :)
5 minutes later there is now a even stronger smell of burning and even thicker smoke. So I stopped felt the Hoover where motor is and its red hot. Looked at what could cause the problem of burning. Turns out brush of Hoover was completly seized solid with hair and other debris. So decided enoughs enough and went into town and brought her a lovely new pink Hoover.

She's now come home with a puzzled look as to why there's her old Hoover in 2 pieces in the front garden ;D ;D

So the moral of this story is leave the domestic work to swmbo and it won't cost you a £100 :y

Similarly I toasted our hoover last week, bought her a brand spanking VAX...is she grateful?? is she hell.

I did feel bad lashing the old one at the tip this morning as it has served us well for 10 yrs and I could have fixed it

If its stalled or significantly slowed the motor and its got that hot......you have to fear for the windings and com!

Interestingly, most decent makes have a temperature sensor on the motor so it cuts power off when they over heat, Dysons don't, but decent makes do.......
