Breather question... = high idle?
« on: 04 November 2014, 16:16:16 »

The 'breather bridge seal' has perished. I ordered a new one from Vx today, but that'll be a few days coming.

Basically - can this potentially leaking seal be the cause of the high idle, then hunting? If not, then I can refit the duff seal as it was before and get on looking for other leaks, change the ICV etc... Otherwise, Due to Monday and Tuesday being the only days I can get on with the car, that means nothing until next week, that's all.

You mean the seal that is nicknamed the 'top hat'? Yes it can definitely cause an erratic idle. When I found mine it had split in half   :o replaced it with a spare one and it sorted the idle. Also check the two o rings that go from breather bridge to throttle body. . . I swapped mine for fatter ones that I got in an assorted o ring pack from hell frauds and that was sorted also.

Much appreciated!! Well I have ordered one from Vx today, as it's less than £2, so hoping this may be the elusive cause of my woes :-)

Next Q...

What is -

90500983 ?

this is listed as 'O'RING, CRANKCASE VENTILATION - where does this go? I've ordered a 'top hat' seal, and two of the small O-rings that go on the end of the breathers into the throttle body. But I've just noticed this on the parts diagram, so just wondering  :) Thanks all!
