Brother is looking for a Zafira.........I know  ::) But he has 3 kids & needs a MPV as he often takes all the clan and would like to take mum out too. His budget is up to £2500 so hes's looking at something like 03 - 05 reg 60ish K.

Can anyone give any advise (constructive) on what to look for? what faults? any hints or tips on getting a good one?? We're going looking at a few tomorrow & thursday 1.6 & 1.8 petrol (he doesn't do enough miles for a wheasel)

Thanks in advance

Recently had a 60 plate 1.6 i found the car incredibly versatile, the 1.6 wont win any races when 5 or so passengers are present but the engine is fine for general use. I had a diesel 2.0 before and the engine was great especially in hilly areas. Overall for the money the zafira is a fine machine :y

For zafira, read astra, same car. The zafira has no real problems of it's own. Treat it as you would any Vauxhall of that age.

As Steve has said, It is an Astra on Stilts.

Avoid the 1.6 IMO.  It is far too small for the extra weight of the Zafira, especially when loaded.

The 1.8 seems to be the pick of the bunch.

EGR faults are something to look into - and a decent bargaining tool.

Interiors are basic but functional but tend to get ruined by kids with sticky sweets and pop bottles.  Again, an easy fix and good bargaining tool.

Did I mention to avoid the 1.6?  ;D

The Zaffy-A's are not that refined, and not that comfortable either. Well, mine isn't. Zafira-B seem to hold a price premium. Zafira-A has woeful spec.

Whilst quite versatile, the rearmost seats are for kids only really, esp for decent journeys, and with these up, virtually no boot space.

I'm trying to think of something nice to say, but struggling ;D

I've nothing good to add either... :-X

Errrr...the climate control is better than on the Omega and the CD player supports mp3 playback and has aux input (Elite and probably Design)...that's about it.

Not quite what you wanted/needed to know. Sorry

Not awe inspiring I know, but its for our kid, who doesn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to cars. I'm amazed the Mondeo lasted 5 years in his ownership  :D But for me servicing it & carrying out repairs it would have been in scrapyard heaven years ago! Just want sommat simple, reasonably spacious & easy to maintain.

Yours must have been a Zaffy-B then. The most high tech item in the top-of-the-range Zaffy-A Elegance is the CDR500...  ...and we all know how crap that is ;D

I've just sold on a mint 02 1.6 petrol Zaf with full MOT and 74k for £700, I was surprised how well it drove to be honest and considered keeping it. Would happily have sold it here but dem rules are dem rules. Only issue I had to sort was breaks in the wires to the rear doors and the usual rocker cover gasket leak

You can't sell a non Omega here?  Didn't know that.

TB, mine is a Zafira B 1.8 Elite. If this is the refined version then the A must be truly awful  ;D

Sorry Jason  :y   I bought mine for the kids too. The things we do for them  ::)

As far as I know, you can sell a Toaster here if you want?  Much like selling a Zafira, I guess.
