What's the recommended lifespan / time to change plug leads? Been in the service section, and only plugs are mentioned. Would have thought if plugs are at 40k, then perhaps 'every other plug change' for the leads - so every 80k??

Only found 1 reference to how long leads last on another forum and that was 'they're good for about 80-90k' but lots of people will tell you the cambelt is good for 80k too. 

Seems a silly question, but no-one's giving a definitive answer. People only seem to change them when they start getting a misfire.

If there not soaked and boiled in oil by the cam covers, the modern leads will last the life of the engine.

£30 from ECP and they're what i've used every time.

There is no service interval that I'm aware.

Ah that's good. Got a source of some used GM ones with not many miles on them - but if they were a service at say every 40k, then it'd be more cost effective to get new ones. All good!

I'm going down the logic of 2nd hand GM being better than cheap n cheerful brand new... however it's one of them gambles either way. The leads fitted currently work fine, they just look crusty and 'orrible. Got offer of a mint GM set for no money, with only a few k on them. So they're (in theory) better than mine which must have approx 100k on them. I could buy a brand new ECP set and they last 5 years, and these GM ones may be duff after ten mile... on the other hand, they could be good in 70k.

I feel duty-bound to say you can get decent ones for £40, and better-than-GM for £55 via Autobahnstormers - I did nearly get a set of the £55-ers from Keith, but after being offered a set of GM ones for free, well, couldn't say no, really. Of course I shall gladly let you all point and laugh at me with my car misfiring on the hard shoulder, if they turn out to be duffers. And will be giving Keith the £55, plus £3 for a pint

Difficult to see how you can get better quality than Beru or is someone peddling 'larger core Magnecor' snake oil again?

Something in the back of my mind is telling me I bought a set of leads from ECP for one of my old 3.0's.

I seem to recall them being absolutely identical to the genuines I was replacing, same writing on them, the lot.

The only difference was the 1,3,5 bank didn't have the ribbed sheath around them.
