FAE cam sensor
« on: 10 November 2014, 07:05:18 »

Sorry it's another cam sensor post, I know you'll tell me I shouldn't have but I got a fae camsensor from euro parts as I don't see how they could sell a £50 parts that dosnt work, however after fitting car still won't fire up but only fault code I have is for cam sensor, Local vauxhall garage says only faulty crank sensor would prevent starting and dosnt always throw a code up. My main question to you experts is is it true what the garage says and should the fae sensor at least do it's job for a while?! Cheers for any help

Cost is always an issue, so matter how much money we have, so I appreciate why you've gone down the non-GM route; however I'm a strong advocate of used Genuine Vx parts being better than many brand-new pattern parts. Have you tried the Omega Spares guy on ebay? He's well known to OOFers, and a good bloke, comes highly rated. Has pretty much everything, too  :y

Sadly, the simple answer is - because you paid for it. You want a brand new ipad for £75?? Send me £75 and I'll send you an ipad... when an etch-a-sketch arrives you're annoyed, but I've got £75 quid...

Happier news... here's the feller...

It's been proven time and time again that where Crank and Cam sensors are concerned, only genuine will do.

Sure you might save £20 against a genuine one, but you WILL be buying a genuine one anyway... so the reality is that by not buying the cheapy one first you have actually saved £50 or there abouts ::)

Steve is a too bloke, and I can personally recommend his service :y Ring him BEFORE buying through ebay and be sure to mention the forum. That way, he knows who you are :y

Just remember a second hand genuine sensor is only a temporary fix, so budget for a new one. From your most convenient Vauxhall dealer :y

It's not flack :y

You're not the first person to buy a pattern sensor, only to have it fail in short order, and sadly, I very much doubt you will be the last :-\ but if one person reads this or similar threads and takes the advice on board, then all is well :y

The thing is it hasn't worked at all, surely every one that buys one sends it back so they must know there no good?

Accept that everything that euroshiteparts sell is shite. If you actually get something reasonable from there, consider it a bonus ;D

I'm sure that sensor is not unique to the Omega, and used on lots of Siemens managed cars. Maybe the Omega is particularly fussy due to placement and nearby signal hostility?  Either way, its been proven that the pattern ones rarely work, even when sold by reputable suppliers, let alone those scumbags at euroshiteparts.

It is generally accepted that if replacing sensors of any sort, that patter sensors are utterly shite. Or never work for a reasonable amount of time to justify the saving.

Maf sensors, abs sensors, crank sensors, cam sensors, etc etc.... Coilpacks, dis pacs, and so on. By cheap, buy twice. Therefor not cheap.

Coil PACs and dis pacs on omega can be sauced from a factors or genuine bosch, and are cheaper than dealers.

But sensors? Dealer only! Might be on trade club, or available at trade prices.
