Starting to get annoyed now
« on: 27 June 2008, 16:50:36 »

After the joys of the OS exhaust manifold gasket, (it's silent), my miggy has now developed a thurst for coolant.

No loss of power, No steam and i can't see any leaks. But there again I can't really see the dreaded tube or the HBV.

any ideas before it's stripped down AGAIN. :'(

Normally the threads I have read seem to point to the HBV at the back of the engine.

But I would be tempted to check the fuid level up and then move the car on to some dry conrete where you can see if there are any drips.

Front of car start from the radiator as I have read of a couple of problems there.  Jamesv6cdx is suffering a pin hole in his at the mo on annother thread.

If there is nothing when cold, then start the engine up and run up to temperature, but with the heater set to cold and monitor the fluid level, if it starts to go down then turn off the engine and investigate.

Then if no joy, do the same again but with the heater on hot.

2 WARNINGS.

Be aware of moving parts whilst engine running if you are investigating leaks.
and
Be aware, even with the ignition off, of electric cooling fans starting at random to cool the engine.
