Can anybody recommend supplier or does it have to be stealer. Second question do you have to do both side.

Well advised to do both...

Try ATP, Allgerman, factors or VX in that order :y (first two can be swapped for budget purposes...)

Yes both sides, although could do them a month or so apart to make it easier on the wallet.

Try febi for the mounts, not sure on the bearing, would probably stick with gm as the bearing isn't worth the risk imo.

If talking to dealers ask if TC helps. ;)

Re set up, the strut can be removed with the stub axle to preserve camber setting.

I bought a pair of Lemforder topmounts with bearings from Allgerman parts earlier in the year and I think they were £48 for the set.  :)

If I remember rightly Mr Gixer bought a set of Pedders at about the same time which were a bit more expensive.  :-\

The pedders ones were heavy duty Monaro iirc :-\

They looked identical to the Lemforders that I had just fitted.  :-X

I sure they were better though, different rubber, more heavy duty, more durable etc etc  :y

From ATP...
Strut accessories...

https://www.atp-autoteile.de/products/group/15808/1040200/list-1-20-2.htm

Two pages of top mounts from no name to KYB and SKF...

 https://www.atp-autoteile.de/products/group/15808/1040300/list-2-20-2.htm

Or from Allgerman...

http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/product/category?path=1219_1228 less choice, but comparable prices :y

Have these atp parts been tested Al? Are they known to be good, before recommending them I mean...?

I know you've used their wishbones, but does that mean everything else's works to a similar level?

I understand your point and it is a valid one :y

ATP carry a wide selection of choice, including known brands and as a company their service has been spot on and the prices are competitive in my experience...

Allgerman list a couple of choices at very interesting prices, just look at the Lemforder items in the link :-\

If budget is tight buy the cheapest you're comfortable with and accept that they might require changing in a year or sos time.

If budget is not really an issue but value for money is, then I would buy either the Febi, KYB or SKF kit on brand reputation.

Clearly money no object would be GM only :-\

For reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYB-SM5285-Front-Strut-Mount-Kit-Cadillac-Catera-97-01-/310726689546?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4858c1030a&vxp=mtr

About the same price as the same item from ATP, ignoring shipping...

At the end of the day, the prices range from £10-75 so bound to find summat to suit in there :-\

Put another way, I trust either supplier to sell me a reliable product, with a realistic lifespan according to the budget.

Take burgers... a £4 burger from McDonald's could be either the most delicious or disgusting thing you have ever eaten... it's a chance you take.

However, if a £40 burger from a specialist butcher, cooked by the finest chef tastes anything other than scrumptious then you're going to be disappointed to say the least :-\
