Pollen Filter Cover
« on: 08 December 2014, 16:37:17 »

Hi
I'm trying to remove the filter cover, I've pulled back the rubber, lifted the front but that's it. The cover seems stuck in place, so, to help a thicko, do I just keep pulling at it, or has it to be released from the rear rubber? I've tried twisting it, pulling it and thumping it, all to no avail. Am I being too wimpy with it or is there something else? I don't want to break it.
Thanks for any help

Regards

It has a plastic tab at each side as you look at it which need to be released to enable  the hinged lid to be folded up to allow the old filter to be taken out...and new one slid back in.  warning they do snap off if not carefull

Bend the pollen filter. Rather than risk snapping the clips off.

Suction from the fan will keep the filter sealed flat to the housing so don't worry about the filter deforming too much, although keep bending to a minimum of course.

Thumb on top edge of filter and pull it away until one end comes away.

I thought that when the clips are released the filter just comes forward and lifts out, where is the "hinged lid" unless you mean the cover on the scuttle. Thats how mine works and I must say I worry about breaking the clips especially in this cold weather eversince I broke the clips that retain the hedgehog on my previous Omega. Carry out the change when the engine bay is warmed up or as said try to change without touching the retaining clips . The cover on the scuttle should just lift up when the rubber and the very small ,"2 off" metal clips are removed :y

I should add that if you havn"t lifted the scuttle lid above the pollen filter before ,when you get it open make sure that the drain hole is clear in the base of the chamber or your car will be flooded when it rains.

O.K.  All  done. In the cold grey light I saw that I had been trying to remove the entire flap, when the little bit at the front was all I needed ::)

One of the filter lugs was already broken and the filter was held in with masking tape. I took the filter in and gave it a vacuum and replaced it. I noticed too late that there was a 'air flow this way' arrow in it, so I assume that the flow is from front of car to back ?

The scupper was dry, I'm pleased to say.

Air flow arrow should point towards the cabin.
