The 1994 CDX I have has full electric seat adjustment. Will these fit into my 2001 CDX which has only up and down power movement.

Not as a direct swap in part due to your 2001 car having side airbags (in the side of theseats) & the 94 seats not hahaving them

So technically you have to tell your insurance company, now whether you do or not is, of course, up to you. But you're supposed to.

There are often set, and for not too much money kicking around on OOF and heebay.

You might even be able to find someone who wants a PFL set, who can provide you with a FL set?

No is the only answer to this question.

Hypothetically the safety kit from the later seat can be retrofitted to the early seat, but the back frame won't have the mounting hardware for the airbag. Which makes it a non runner. Leaving the airbag unplugged will put the,airbag light on which is an instant Mot failure.

There's a squillion Corsas, Saxos, Fiestas out there with the original steering wheel airbags remvoed, replaced with airbagless Momo wheels, and seats with side airbags replaced with stupid planks of wood called racing seats. They would either get the light put out with a Tech2 or similar or just remove the bulb for the Airbag warning light. None of which I'd recommend, and all of which you should tell your insurance company about.

Will they fit? Yes

Should you/is it safe/advisable/recommended? No, but ultimately up to the owner.

As I understand it, airbag related items are only a failure if the car was registered after they became compulsory, ie if fitted must work/removed is fine for earlier cars and if obligatory must be present and fault free for later ones... Same as rear seatbelts and pre '87? cars

Any Omega seat with side airbags can be fitted to any other Omega but the belt pretensioner must be fitted from the vehicle that the seat is going into. Non side airbag seats can only be fitted to cars without side airbags from new.

Eg:
Pre facelift... Mechanical pre tensioners/no side airbag only suitable for same as a straight swap.

Mfl with mechanical pretensioner /side airbag can be fitted to any Omega but must have electrical pretensioner swapped from original seat if fitted to a facelift.

FL side airbags/electrical pretensioner can be fitted to any Omega but if fitted to pre or mid FL will need electrical pretensioner swapped with original mechanical pretensioner.

Later facelift seats also have active headrests which are sprung loaded to minimise whiplash injury. The trigger is mechanical and load dependant and is in no way connected to the airbag system.

All pretty much as I had feared. 1994 FEL seats are the best I have ever sat in , even better than Jaguar in my opinion. 2001 seats are pretty average on the CDX so I expect they will be the same if they are FEL. Basically they are a different trim with both the base & the back a modified shape (cheaper). Looks like the 94 will be back on the road this year and the 2001 may be up for sale.

regarding air bag light......I had a astra 1800cc elegance 2003 and the person before me fitted seats without air bags....so the light was on....when I made some enquiries I found that by bridging the connector in the wiring loom with a small ohm resistor it puts the light out and worked perfectly....of coarse as said by rights you should still inform your insurance company..

As Taxi Al says, the only responsible answer is no.  There is a guide on seat compatibility.

Its likely to affect the entire SRS system, not just the missing (side airbag) and wrong (pretensioners) parts.

It will DEFINATELY impact insurance, as it affects the NCAP rating - the side airbags added in 1998 notched it up a level.

Seat heaters will be a problem to get working, as the FL car relies on the heating controller in the seat.
