Newbie alert
« on: 20 December 2014, 09:31:25 »

Hello everyone,

I've just bought a V6 3.0 Elite auto estate, W reg (2000) with  70,000 miles on the clock. I'm not very mechanically minded but have managed to change the oil, oil filter and fuel filter on my last 2 vehicles. I've found the relevant guides on this forum and am very impressed at how detailed they are - brilliant. The previous owner of my Omega showed me that the coolant sensor warning comes on but he didn't think it was serious. I found the guide to replacing the sensor but think this is too complicated for me to do on my own. Is this something that needs to be sorted out ASAP? I think I'll have a go at an oil and filter change and will probably do the spark plugs at the same time although that also looks a bit tricky. Is there anything else I can do at the same time in terms of general maintenance / checking for problems?

I'm really pleased to have found this forum and thanks to those who posted the detailed guides for newbs like me  :y

Cheers.

Under-steer is when the front of the car hits the wall, and over-steer is when the rear of the car hits the wall.
Power is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how much of the wall you take with you.

How do :y

Three hose clips, some coolant, £45-50 for a new header tank and about five minutes is all the coolant level sensor requires ;)
