ICE and Electrical
« on: 24 June 2008, 19:25:37 »

Just a thought but isn't there a very fine crossover between the General help section and the Electrical/ICE section? I notice some electrical threads get moved, some don't, and just wondered what the criteria is?

For example, today my request for help (posted in general help) re. where to tap into the wiring loom for ECU feeds for things like Rpm, was moved to ICE and electrical.

There seem to be several other threads in general help, which are also purely electrical based, which aren't being moved - such as

Ecu related questions - http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1213716601

Immobiliser question - http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1214258649

Elecrical mirror question

Mid question

etc etc...

I must stress that I'm not complaining by any means about my post being moved because I can see some of these posts cross over between both sections.

As an observation though, I'd like to point out that in my opinion a lot of small electrical queries (such as will satnav connections be available) are being left in general help - whereas pleas for help such as my query or simelar are moved to ICE.

Personal opinion is that if someone needs assistance getting a car working, rather than a small query, wouldn't such things be suited to general help?

'Twas I who moved the post in question.

It was specifically asking for the location of electrical connections, on the electrical circuit of the vehicle, and not querying, for instance, why the car will not start or why the lights dont work or similar.

Agree that there is a line between a genhelp item and an ICE/Electrical item.

In this case, I decided it was suited to be moved.

So it was....   ;)

Not questioning your reasoning at all mate... just curious about the criteria :y

Btw, somewhat unrelated but, PM sent :)

As H21 says, its down to the admin's feelings at the time, whether he thinks it sits in another section better :)
