For me, it was when a mate drove the Mini I had done a lot of work on, head-on into a moving truck. First, and most importantly, he walked away from it. Second, almost all of the welds held.
Destructive testing is very useful!

Carried on today...ran out of wire. DOH! And ran out of gas on my first ever bottle lol

I can't afford any wire 'til 21st (pay day) so looks like for now progress is halted.

So I've taken the opportunity to strength test the base / frame....currently sitting outside with a billion tons of compost andclay pot thingy on it  ;D

Something weird happened with the welding though........

This tubing is 2.5mm thick and on the max thickness of the machine (to get full penetration). So why then were my initial attempts on max power burning through and giving me severe undercut? ???
I had to drop down a heat setting and when I did it welded really nice.
