Is there any difference?

Air condition merely dries and cools the air as it enters the cabin.

Climate control is how the cabin air is managed wrt temp/fan speed with a view to maintaining an even cabin temp :y

not if you have the heater set to hot  ;)

The very act of drying the air cools it regardless of heater setting... simple physics ::)

The climate control then warms the air as required by passing it over the heater matrix, (which may or may not have hot coolant passing through it) according to how the controls are set.

They are two entirely different processes :y

Air-con is manual, climate is auto.

Yes I know. But my Smart has a/c .......... ie NOT climate control, but I can still have warm air entering the cabin with the a/c on

Climate control, as you say, regulates the temp of the cabin all by itself ......... a/c doesn't  ;)

Air-con is manual, climate is auto.
No, no and, er... no.

Climate control, be that mechanically or electronically controlled works independently of air con. Because they are two very different things.

Set your panel to Auto and Eco with the temp to say 21°. That's your Electronic Climate Control in action with no air conditioning.

All air conditioning does is dry and cool the air. It isn't manual or automatic, it's either on or off depending on whether you, the operator, has turned it on or off...

Simples :y

in terms of the original question ...... in a car ..... a/c is manual & c/c is automatic

They're still two different things doing two different jobs ???

Manual climate control will have a fan switch, a temperature control and a direction control.

Electronic climate control adds in an automatic function, which enables the controls to self adjust according to the chosen temperature setting and allows for external temperature as a reference point.

Posh electronic climate control can also be zoned, ie dual/tri/quad... allowing the temperature to be regulated precisely around the interior.

IF it is switched on, the air conditioning will help regulate lower climate temp settings in higher external temperatures and dry the air.

They complement each other but are different and separate processes within the heating/ventilation system.

A/C works, sometimes, but is good for demisting. C/C is shite and doesn't do much at all except annoy the hell out of you. There should be one, rotary switch with blue at seven o'clock and red at five o'clock. Hot air, warm air, cool air, cold air..lovely. ;D

Indeed :y

I leave the aircon on all year round, temp set to the temperature I want, and the airflow set to where I want it, and at the fan speed I want :y

Like I said. :y

Manual and auto.

And have you ever seen a car with Climate control without air-con?
