Later 2.5/3.0 camcovers include the fixings for coilpacks, which might suggest that the 3.2/2.6 ones will also fit perfectly... ::)

This is incorrect

Later 2.5 and 3.0 HEADS have the bolt hole fixings for the 2.6 and 3.2 coil packs, but the 2.5 and 3.0 cam covers are totally different to the 2.6 and 3.2 ones

They are easily distinguishable because the 2.5 and 3.0 ones have round holes for HT leads, whereas the 2.6 and 3.2 ones have square apertures for the coil packs...

Ah ok the later 3.0 Catera camcovers must be 2.6/3.2 ones then ::)

Given as that's the only reason the later 2.5/3.0 heads have the coil pack holes...

The pic you have posted there is a drive by wire engine which utilises 2.6/3.2 cam covers and a coil pack per bank

In omega form, there was never a 3.0 drive by wire engine.

Therefore in omega terms, omega 2.6 or 3.2 cam covers will NOT fit a 3.0 omega

They're the same heads on a variation of the same block.

Of course the Omega B was sold as a Chevrolet and a Cadillac, both with DBW 3.0 engines. But no, because the badge says different you insist on splitting hairs...

I'm not splitting hairs,

The op wants cam covers for a 3.0 OMEGA

I have (correctly) informed him that cam covers from a 2.6 or 3.2 OMEGA will not fit

Which is the correct advice!

The fact the 3.2 covers may fit a 3.0 DBW catera is totally irrelevant

There was never a 3.0 omega in DBW form

This is an OMEGA forum. The OP is hardly likely to source parts from a breaking Catera. I therefore maintain that 2.6 or 3.2 cam covers from an OMEGA are not suitable for a 3.0 OMEGA

Which is wrong.

Al,to clarify, are you saying 2.6 or 3.2 cam covers, on a coil pack per bank setup, will fit the posters 2.5 omega with ht leads?

Yes.

Both have 3 plugs per bank in exactly the same place. All the hardware is in exactly the same place. Hell, even the gaskets are interchangeable. The DBW 3.0 is living proof of this.

But there is no DBW 3.0 omega?

Therefore covers for a DBW omega/Cadillac, will not fit a 2.5/3.0 omega with a ht lead setup...

So the Catera is the Omega Bs imaginary friend then...

Ok, put it another way... are the plug wells on an early 2.5/3.0 head round?

Of course not , aside of the addition of the threads to secure coil packs on later heads, the plug setup on the heads themselves are identical?

But, by fitting individual ht leads to camcovers designed to take coil packs, they will not clip in correctly and risk poor connections and water ingress..

So what you're suggesting is that the ht leads aren't a positive fit on the plugs? But instead that they are held in position but the camcovers?

As for water ingress, any water in the plugwells would be evaporated off as steam as soon as the engine is warmed... assuming the scuttle was poorly sealed in the first place ::)

Look at post #11 - different part nos for cable and dbw cam covers.  As said we are not a Catera forum - op has a 2.5 cable Omega, based in UK.

Can confirm though that gaskets from AGP were fitted by me to our 2.6 V6 (drivers bank) and genuine Vx to passenger bank last year and to date no issues.
