WTD - 03 Leather Interior
« on: 03 February 2015, 14:54:45 »

Am considering the above.

Looking idealy for a Bleack Leather Saloon set for my 2003 CD, would prefer Elite seats with memory settings and the door cards to match.

Can offer a full set from the current car as PX, Onlt done 47k so as new.

Needs to be reasonable distance from Rotherham though.

(Am guesing the seats from my 1999 Elite wont fit)

This got brought up not too long ago, regarding Omega seat fitment and the differences.

Will your '99 Elite seats fit? Short answer 'yes' - but we have to rewind and determine what we mean by 'fit'. Will they bolt in? Yes, the bolt holes spacings etc are the same. But also no... ie: Your 03 car will have active head restraints, they weren't around in 1999. Then on pre-Mini facelift, they didn't have side airbags either. Might be a difference in the pre-tensioner system on the earliest cars, too? Being a pedant, the black on PFL and MFL is a deep 'pure' black, the FL cars is more of a very dark grey, and looks a bit 'odd' when you stand them next to each other - so your PFL seats will be noticeable darker than the rest of the FL interior, if you drop PFL seats in.

I'm not sure, but the CDs may not have the loom ready and waiting for Elite electric seats to plug n play and work. From new, if you opted for leather on a non-Elite you didn't always get the fully electric affairs, so there are leather - but non-electric - seats out there, which may suit you better. There is also the leather MV6 seats to consider.

Active headrestraints are strictly mechanical :y obviously a potential insurance issue...

Pretensioners would need swapping from your later seats, but that's one bolt and a couple of cable ties :y

OP has an MFL Elite and a FL CD so pretensioners are the same

Fair dos :y my last plod had early MV6 seats, and the previous owner, a TVP mech, had had to swap the pretensioners as the car didn't like the earlier ones :y kept putting the airbag light on :-\

Yes indeed. I wasn't suggesting that they weren't suitable to swap on an electrical level/plug 'n' play, more for an insurance/your own feeling of personal safety, kind of thing. Nothing 'wrong' with removing your 2003 Omega seats and replacing them with 1989 Carlton ones (if you can get them to fit  ::) ) - but you'd have to be aware (and strictly speaking said insurance company, too) you's lose pretensioners, electric adjustment, active head restraints and airbags.

By 'eck, when did seats get so complicated!?!

Would rather just fit an 03 Black Leather Elite interior if one became available.

THe leather in the Elite is cream, so fitting it in the CD and it being a grey car might not look the best combination.

Sad really, I really love the seats that are fitted in the Elite, But the ones fitted in the CD and my old GLS are just not as comfortable, plus the other reasons for me are access related and the leather is easier to slide about on. :y  (pity the sumptuous leather ones from the old Scorpios didnt bolt straight in)
