And as I pointed out to a religious work colleague" if you keeled over with massive chest pains what should I do? Pray for you or call for an ambulance?" As only one option is going to save your life..

Lizzie,

Sorry, I not mocking or disrespecting you, you believe what you like, but if you use irrational arguments to justify your beliefs, my questioning mind, will highlight that irrationality, which is exactly what I did in my previous reply.

From personal experience one of the fundamental flaws of Christianity is that a person, can be the most vile scum on Earth last week and repent their sins on Sunday, so all is forgiven in their and their God's eyes and and they are convinced they've made another down-payment on their first class ticket to heaven and then be the most vile scum again the next week, repeating the cycle, ad infinitum.

Not one of the Bible's, Catholic church's and the Christian religion's finest hours, where the Bible didn't agree with Galileo's and others newly discovered facts?

I have said all I personally need to on this subject which, like politics, will draw many varying levels of reply. I will now only add my final piece:

What you all believe is up to you, but I know what I believe for many good reasons, and my reasons are no more illogical or irrational from any other, and with my many, many, experiences including one, shared with my mother at the same time, of feeling absolute evil from an unworldly source that is not explainable. Irrational? No, it falls within the belief of the Holy Trinity and the forces of the devil. Medieval nonsense? No, as they ARE very much alive to us in the 21st century, if you are prepared to open up your eyes and hearts to real Christian, or other, faiths.

But take this argument from a different viewpoint for a moment. Let's remove God, Christianity, and all other faiths from the equation.  Let's have a world without a moral compass, where there is no understanding of right or wrong, good or evil.  A world where almost everyone believes this life is our only chance for enjoying all around us (The Garden of Eden moment; and no, this is pure symbolism as most of the Old Testament is and Darwin was right but in man's timescale, not God's "7 Days" which to God is billions of years) and so go for it. As we will not suffer from anything we do, but instead will enjoy all pleasures available, by stealing, cheating, murdering, et all, why not? We will end up dead anyway so let's make the most of what we have now, now, now!

The world, as I stated, has no moral compass, no understanding, or least a will to live with a right or wrong lifestyle.  Anarchy will rule, everyone out for themselves.................................hang on, this all sounds growingly familiar.  But now the breaking of a wing mirror, keying of your car, the beating up and rape of an 82 year old neighbour becomes common place. But God does not exist; the morality contained within the current faiths does not apply, and we will all die a final., unending death were blackness as our future, so who cares?

So, believe what you like but think hard about a society where God does not extend that inner love; a feeling of good or evil and a promise of everlasting life, as he does not exist.

Is this what you want for the future?

Lizzie, we can remove God from the equation and still have a moral compass. We do not need God to know right from wrong.

Sorry.....but I'm with Richard Dawkins on this one. ;) :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

That was a long piece to put forward a view which has no basis whatsoever. A persons moral compass exists within and has no bearing on whether they are religious or not. There are good and bad religious people and there are good and bad irreligious people.
"The world, as I stated has no moral compass." As you stated? Do me a favour  ;D

As I stated once in a previous thread....each to his own. :y

But ...and this is just my own opinion.....animals have existed long before man. They have evolved without religion. The majority, are like humans, gregarious. They have a developed a social order, and in the 'pack' they know what is 'right and wrong'. They know who is leader/boss. Those who stray are 'reprimanded'
I believe that we, with our highly developed and evolved brain, irrespective of any 'god',  have sorted our 'pack' order, and  have instigated rules as part and parcel of our evolution to normal life as we know it today :y.

As did we, and that is exactly my point. Why should (any) god exist for human animals as opposed to, say, dogs or ants? Sorry, it just doesn't work for me. ???

Ok. I get it.

God is attacked and insulted, then so is my Christian beliefs when I defend God. No one else is prepared to it seems on this Forum so , yet again, but finally, I have decided I do not belong here. My principles are firm on this.

Goodbye to you all and, as I bear no malice, God bless you in whatever you choose for your future.

Love. Lizzie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
