My 2nd car

A Chrysler Alpine 1400.  20,000 miles on the clock, driven by an old man, out company secretary from where I worked.

Poor on fuel, 84mph top speed, by 32,000 miles it had burnt out a battery, alternator and starter motor.

Pile of poo, but was a chep car for me at the time

Not sure if I am that disappointed but I drove an MGZT last week. I was looking forward to the comfort of the soft leather seats and the powerful engine.

Unfortunately, the seats were the best part of the car. The engine was particularly gutless and the whole thing was incredibly badly put together.

I had contemplated getting one of these, albeit in Rover 75 guise, a few years ago. Looks like I had a lucky escape.  :-/

a ford sierra 4x4,hated it from the day i got it

Had one of them as a 'works' car when they were new.....  Loads of fun and amusement for the under 12's, despite all the kit in the boot....   But perhaps because of it....  ;)

I thought I was reading it wrong until your post, Golfbuddy..the most disappointing car, not the worst?

Most disappointing was an 07 reg Astra (what they on now? Astra H?).  Had an S reg 2.0 Di Estate that was unbelievable - comfy, handled well, economical, never let me down.  The new Astra?  Uncomfortable, terrible ride, crap on fuel and lousy at accelerating.  Shattered my illusion of "progress"..

Yes, i'm slamming a Vx...at least with a 1.0 Corsa, you knew it would't accelerate, but I liked the noise from the 3-pot...

Most surprising one was a Cav 2.0 CDi (8v) - the works hack.  250k on the clock.  Still posted my fasted time ever from home to Ellesmere Port, stuck to the road like glue and still returned 39mpg...god knows how!  3rd gear in that was a revelation - 30 to 90-odd mph - great for slip roads!  Best start a new thread...

If we're talking works vehicles, Ford Escort van.  Wrote the same one off 3 times, though for some reason they kept repairing...

Loving the thought of H21 trying to make a rapid exit from a Metro and look remotely professional!  ;D ;D

One of the most disappointing cars I have driven is outside right now.
A Toyota Avensis D4-D.
Oh dear god who thought this was a good car??
Noisy and harsh diesel with an embaressing lack of torque.
Interior is cheapo and plasticky with a sereo that looks like it came out of the 1989 parts bin!

I can't even put it down to being a one off, this is the second one I have driven recently and they are both woeful.

At least I get to hand it back tomorrow  :)

So what is your most dissapointing car you have bought.
Mine is my 2002 bmw 525i sport, it certainly looks the part but for an exegutive car, you would think it would be spacious but your wrong!!!!
It is tiny! I have an 8 year old son and he cant even fit in the back comfortably. Saying that, i drove down south the other day and me and the family could not get comfortable, they are so uncomfy.
Another problem is its gearbox(Automatic), it changes gear like nothing i have ever seen.
Everyone says that they are really good, well i am saying that there far from good but they are not bad, they are quiet, fast and looks superb :y
The Omega is just so much better.

So whats your most dissapointing car?

Sorry chap but I couldn't disagree more. We had a 530i m-sport (2003) before the RR. I'm 6ft and would fit in the back with no problems, very comfortable front and rear. The tiptronic box was sublime in it's ability to change gears with nothing more than a change in engine tone (which was lovely). Personally, I can't speak highly enough for it.

Biggest dissapointment I've had was a Toyota Hilux Surf. 2.4TD, 2 tonnes, 84bhp and 12mpg. I kept it for 6 weeks before getting sick of it.

...though thats 3 weeks longer than the MV6 lasted  :-/
