Rattling Door Pins
« on: 16 February 2015, 21:25:26 »

My 2000 Elite has a bad rattle from the door pins (think that's what they are called). Do you have to replace them or is there an easy fix?

Try pressing the door card near the pin first and see if it moves back towards the door. If it does it's highly likely the plastic locating strip is parting company with the door card.

Can be fixed by removing the door card and reattaching the strip with a good adhesive or hot glue gun.

For a quick fix shove a cable tie down beside the knob, that might do the trick until you do a permanent fix. :y

Pop the orange square out, lift the button off, refit the orange square, wrap two turns of black insulation tape around the pin so that the top edge is upto but not over the orange square and refit...

Bish bash bosh :y

Not sure what is meant by door pins. I assumed it was the bolt securing the check strap to the A post. If I'm totally wrong ignore me. If not, you have a worn plastic bush and can replace for small sums of money from GM supplier and about 5 mins a side.

Typically the lock buttons :y

If early facelift, the buttons and their trims are different to later ones... if early facelift rattle, simply replace the pins with later square topped facelift ones :y
